When Food Becomes an Enemy

What you can do
with Sagarpriya

Eating should be a simple and natural thing, but for many people it has become a nightmare. The mind is there, continuously nagging: “This is too much, you are too fat, you should cut down…” By and by, with this constant pressure, we want to become unconscious when we eat and let the moments of taking in food slip by unnoticed by anyone—particularly ourselves. We eat quickly, often while preoccupied with other thoughts. The feelings of nourishment and satisfaction never arrive. Instead there remains an undercurrent of hunger, and the food that might assuage this hunger is feared as an enemy.

If you recognize this situation as your own, then join this program of weekend appointments to see what you can do about it. The problem will be approached on three levels:

  • Physical—balancing the alkaline and acid intake of food so that it “burns” properly. Otherwise the acidic substances which cannot be neutralized will be coated with fat, to protect the body from internal damage.
  • Psychological—looking at the male/female balance within you, to see if one part has reasons to feel undernourished and is using food as a substitute.
  • Spiritual—taking small actions out of the sphere of mechanical behaviour and making them conscious, particularly regarding table behaviour. Also studying physical actions in general, to make sure that each thing you do is nourishing.

The course will include some “homework” during mealtimes.

Anyone who would like to increase their awareness about eating and nourishment of both body and soul, even if they have no overt problem, is welcome to join this one month of experimentation.
